Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons to provide them with a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph with the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.

After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be placed on your equipment. Leveling

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When a player improves the equipment they have it is replaced by a new item upgrader mod. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set of bonuses. This could be a drawback, as it can cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't require it.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and upgrade slot count.
