The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear score of an item upgrader mod to 700, and then add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.

The 3% does not mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number.

Armor
