Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item upgrader mod slot and the current item level upgrade (on the main page) level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Crests

This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to use them properly. For instance it's Best item upgrade to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make.
