Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as crit chance and PvE damage.

For example, a weapon with the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them. The Best item upgrader must have been at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once and cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the equipment with which it is used (for instancethe "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of that equipment using fewer Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player is able to have up to five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will appear in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of how much it will improve following a subsequent reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be costly, and there is a significant risk that the item may become obsolete or even break when it fails. A failure to upgrade can destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer the player a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, which includes any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 as soon as you can.

You will often find in the final game that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes faster.

Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a certain range of values that it can improve a stat by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus which will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, so it is recommended to place Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This could be a drawback, as the item can become more expensive even if you do not need it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This is a good idea however it should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and giving players the ability to alter their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like dolphins). The item can be upgraded multiple times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely important in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth 50 times the value of its non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense and weapon upgrades items increase their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an item, it is given the chance to fail. The rate of failure increases as you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to go back to its original state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item isn't upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. Additionally, the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance, attack damage, and all additional effects associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an Best item upgrader is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied before any damage to attack increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are determined by its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item might have 5 upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will have a much lower cost for each additional upgrade item.

Premium items have different upgrade requirements in comparison to standard equipment. For instance, they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. The player will need to carry every piece of gear they want to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each equipment upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients needed to upgrade.
