The i3+ doesn't have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It could get stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between surfaces, such as rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might come across. You should also keep the dustbin and filter clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station, and it automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it left off. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot i7+ is the top rated robot vacuum model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This removes the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, which lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or via the app.

The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

The main issue with the V10 is its short running time. As CR's tests have shown, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. It's still enough time to clean most of a home that's average size but not long enough to cover every area (though the second time around usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is an affordable model that's a good choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It could pick up most types of debris in our testing and often went over the same area several times for a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and help you navigate your home. It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. As a result, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it often runs out of battery power before making it back to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and can better navigate its own. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on both bare floors and low-pile carpet, while offering a wider range of features for automation.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a brand you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're one of the top robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app provides plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior customization docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to navigate and use similar to other Samsung devices.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It did not do well in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tried, which might be a problem for certain shoppers.
