Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

For example an item with the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or purchasing them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player can have a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-level version of the item will drop in the next reset. Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs and there are also a few rare glyphs to be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your gear. Leveling
