How To Save Money On Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through item upgrader mod upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the Item level Upgrade and the current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require several methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items are from a different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade items is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade item their equipment to the highest possible level on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the Best item upgrade gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
