The Advanced Guide To Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with higher variance due to the need to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader mod upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from Item level upgrade upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will show an image of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will be less expensive, even when they are part of another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available once certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a number of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the type or equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrade in the proper steps and pathways.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests have one usage therefore it's essential to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character that will be able to avail the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
