How To Save Money On Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item upgrader mod by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which displays an image of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader mod upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via a variety of means which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with several new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less, even when they are part of a different gear set.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrade (Discover More) level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, when an item upgrade reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrader equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to avail the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
