Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using a button, which displays a preview of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade item costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
