15 Reasons To Not Be Ignoring Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.
Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item upgrading will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the item level upgrade (mouse click on Lovewiki) level, however, they are always cheaper than buying new gear. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade item has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will show an item's preview at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is even if the items come from an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item upgrade that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used on gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests only have one purpose therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
