15 Reasons Not To Ignore Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item level upgrade [Full Piece of writing] used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item upgrading. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via various methods, which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular item upgrader kit level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less even if they are part of another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have a number of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests based on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade items their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
