Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and equipment with new affixes, boosting its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while items with strong bases such as eth titans do not vary significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional effect while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, thrown away by enemies, or obtained as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be as well as the required element or material required to complete the upgrade.

There are three kinds: universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix at the end of the item's name. For example adding the suffix Glyph could transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component, it will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from the previous versions in a few important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they're "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials needed do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few essential items and maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several items.

This will allow the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it is reset to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.

After a piece has been upgraded to the maximum level, it will be able to receive affixes to boost its attributes. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's kind. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a normal base will have no more than two affixes to choose from and a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item upgrader mod at its current level, and in which slot it is placed in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials, though it will result in lower chances of success.

To measure the height of a building, engineers will use an instrument to compare the measurement to a known reference point like a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This is known as a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high standard of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial part of the game and can boost an Best item upgrade's damage, strength, or other attributes. You can do this via the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be used sparingly.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which are used to earn reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item upgrade or a comparable item. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.

Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you would receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than other. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for every stat. This can be a great or a bad thing, depending on your requirements and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may come with a bonus that increases the power of the item by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you improve an item, the better chances of obtaining the bonus of your choice.

The game also comes with number sets that give a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on a unit. This is a good method of giving a character a lot more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players opt to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the beginning of the game. This is because rerolling could provide a much faster route to a more powerful character and allows them to climb higher levels and advance in the game faster.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be arranged differently. They can be of different sizes, contain no elements, or only contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or to sort information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be categorized in many ways, such as by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an extensive selection of set items that can be upgraded. Some items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that provide high defense values and set bonuses. However, most upgrades to weapons don't improve the quality of the item's stats when as compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already large.

Set items can be upgraded to include unique functions that are beneficial for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level as their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items could increase their defense and increase their competitiveness when it comes to damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, armor and weapons have higher value when fully updated. Especially for weapons that have damage glyphs for spells or weapons, upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will result in a significant increase in their power. This will also boost the defense value of armor with a newer appearance.
