WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for the latter due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The Item level upgrade (squareblogs.net) upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the item upgrading being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item upgrading owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of button, which will show an item upgrader mod's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item upgrader kit level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was modified a bit, and several new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items come from another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade gear you have available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
