Nine Things That Your Parent Teach You About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items can be used to boost the stats of a particular item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and increase other stats.
Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.
Item Level
When an item is upgraded, its stats improve in value. The value is the sum of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is because of how many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.
The level of an item upgrader is a widely used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips of items. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear as PvP is restricted at a lower level. Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.
When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear, players can compare the level of an item. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it will be capable of causing. The level of the item can be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a vendor.
The item level can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, including its ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.
There are various theories about how the calculation of the item's level is done. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines how much an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
However, this isn't the only factor which affects an item's ilvl, as the level of the area the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, for example by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item upgrader kit are a major element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon, and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification which are then increased by the player's skill.
Upgrades to an item may boost its stats. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. An item that is white or grey for instance, can only be upgraded once and items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with more expensive costs.
Another method to alter the stats on an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.
All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.
Players can upgrade an item to a specific stat or reroll affixes. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it's a unique item or a God roll from a boss of a raid.
Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll attaches, or select which stats to boost. As with the base equipment, it would have to be done per item upgrade and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player increases the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is especially useful in the early game, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances, which increase with each level of the item. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn using the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant a further +40 Luck or to boost the existing Luck of the item up to 140.
Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that is able to deal damage by 5%. These items are available from the shop or made using the correct ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it fails.
When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't be greater than 100%..
The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. Every item has an average success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent.
Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
