This Is The Advanced Guide To Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an Item Level Upgrade by +3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item level upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that are used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool with the help of button, which will display an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.
Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade item coupon and the possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through several methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with some new features added. After a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items are from an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that crests are only available for gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests only have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader equipment you have, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
