Path of Exile Item Upgrades

All kinds of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a sufficient level to obtain the privilege of having them. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without damaging the original. You can only replace the gem only once in a piece of equipment.
The use of more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth, and is often performed for aesthetic reasons. In addition to improving performance, the jewels also create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.
