Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The most effective way to improve your equipment in Path of Exile is through item upgrades. This lets you upgrade your gear without having rely on expensive drops or trades. This article will teach you how to upp your gear effectively.

Upgrades to equipment grant an additional bonus to the item's stats. This bonus scales according to the rarity and quality of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components can make your weapons and armour better. You can acquire them by fighting off enemies, locating them in Best item upgrader spheres or buying them from karma merchants. You can also get them from equipment containing the components or through high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components are not destroyed when you remove them from an item upgrader mod.

Upgrade components are typically used to upgrade an item, however, they can also be used for other reasons. They can be stacked to increase the quality of an upgradeable item or they can be used to increase the experience gained when upgrading an existing weapon or piece of equipment. They can also be forged to give additional bonuses. For example, a crafted glyph will boost the upgrade chance of its target, whereas a boost upgrade will boost the defense or attack property of a weapon, or armor.

You can attach an upgrade template to an item by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will show the upgrade components that the item can be updated. You can also use the workbench for selecting an upgrade template. In either case, the item will be upgraded once enough upgrade components have been collected.

Each component is assigned an experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item gains when upgraded using the component. For instance, organic components offer a higher experience multiplier than mechanical ones. You should upgrade the organic components first, until you reach the next rank in the weapon or equipment and then switch to the mechanical upgrades.

In addition to the multiplier of experience, each item also has a maximum number of upgrades it can receive. The number of items that can be upgraded is determined by their upgradeable rank, and the kind of upgrade they are able to receive. The highest level of upgrade is a weapon with the tier 10. However, the most common upgrade for weapons is the tier 6 weapon and a tier 5 armor upgrade.

Sets

A set is a set of items that all share the same bonus. Each item in the set can be upgraded at least once and each upgrade boosts the guaranteed bonuses. When you first upgrade the set piece or weapon will give it an increase of +1 to its primary stat. After subsequent upgrades the primary stats will be increased a bit further (for example, +1 up to 12+/13+/14+) Every time you upgrade the item, one of its extra stats is increased randomly.

Upgrading a weapon can also increase its damage base, which could be important for some builds. Weapons cannot be upgraded for greater maximum defence rolls than their base. Upgrading can be a good way to improve the value of a set and unique items, however it's important to remember that they might not be superior to a high-level runeword in any build.

If an item you're upgrading has a guarantee bonus it is able to be rerolled only once and the guarantee will reset to 0. The same power dies are used to reroll an item as it would be to increase its level. However the new item comes with different bonuses. Upgrades can be made at the NPC [Armor] Boboko in the Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will require a power dice of each type (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; dice 7 drops from bosses) and the appropriate amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be purchased by using Gold at the crafting table or in the Ultra Collection. The NPC will also offer an additional reward for every tier that is completed of the upgrade process. This reward is rerollable once and the reroll will be made using the same materials used in the original item.

Rerolling

If the player has enough rerolling tokens, they can roll any item they've accumulated during the game. If an upgraded item is being rerolled, it can be exchanged for a version that is level 1 of the same item in another set. Reroll tokens are sold at the store for a small sum of in-game currency. They cannot be refunded. The new item upgraded will still have the extra bonuses of the original one however its stats will be different also.

Players can change the identification of their equipment, in addition to rerolling it by interacting with an upgrader NPC. This will change the identity from a weapon to armor or vice versa, all the while retaining its base stats and attributes that are required. The change will be permanent and will affect all characters that own the gear.

Players can also increase the level of an item equipped device by obtaining upgrade components and interacting with the upgrader NPC of the Item Upgrade. This will cost a certain amount of crests and Valorstones depending on the upgrade track and the item type. Each step will give 5% more damage to weapons.

An upgrade will make it more powerful however it can also decrease its quality. Therefore, it is crucial to keep both in check. Some items aren't worth upgrading, whereas others need to be upgraded to make them more effective. For instance one player might want to upgrade a piece of breakpoint armor that has an interesting modifier (% chance to block or FHR) to explore the possibilities of what it can be.

The main reason people reroll in Genshin Impact, or in any gacha-based game is because they're trying to acquire a certain character or weapon that they wouldn't otherwise be able to acquire. These items are time-consuming and costly to obtain and the RNG isn't always a good fit. The only alternative is to spend money or grind extensively. For this reason, rerolling is a very popular option in Genshin Impact.

Leveling

When upgrading an item you can upgrade the weapon or armor. This feature isn't available in the current version of the game. I believe it was designed to to increase the value of rare items, but because gear in general drops fairly quickly and is only upgraded after a certain amount of levels, you'll usually replace the item before it gets old enough. It's also not worth it to upgrade items that have gem sockets because the power of the gem will outweigh the increased ilvl that comes with the upgrade.

When you click the upgrade option on an item, you will be presented with a small window displaying the upgrade template of the item as well as the crest and Valorstone costs to increase the level of the item. The cost will differ between armor and weapons and the latter typically costing more than the latter. The upgrade template outlines the statistics that will be added to the upgraded item. It will also list its current base ilvl.

The cost of the Valorstone and the crest is calculated based on the current Ilvl of the item and the upgrade templates. The ilvl will also be reduced by the upgrade templates reduction percentage for lvl. For instance an upgrade of 8% will reduce the ilvl of a weapon by 8 to 88%.

The item will be upgraded to other stats like critical strike damage, PvE damages and block, parry, and dodge rating in addition to the base level. These increases are built on the upgrade template.

In the upgrade template, you can check the amount of damage or defense the item will be able to sustain when it is upgraded. This is displayed below the cost as well as the upgrade percentages. All weapons and armor, except practice equipment, get these stats once they've been leveled up. The market determines the value of these stats. A weapon or armor that has perfect rolls can command an incredibly higher price than a non-upp’d version. The same is true for other armor pieces like circlets and Tiaras.
