Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide To Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
item Upgrade upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of damage, more AD or even more attaches.
Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to the more modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item upgrader mod that they are attached to. Armor upgrades are found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrade components from items.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it will take on. The upgrade of an armor piece to the highest upgrade item level will increase its damage absorption. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it should be heavier.
There are many different kinds of armor upgrade available in the game. Each one has a distinct effect. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it lighter and stronger. The name of the upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade the item can receive, as shown below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, as identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a charge to use, which is shown by the "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are either constantly updated or never expire depending on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest way to upgrade your armor. You can locate it by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant improvement in stats and are a worthwhile investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.
The player must be aware that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level can increase its defense values. However, it will also affect its agility and its speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The defensive boost gained usually isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For example, an upgrade may improve the damage that is caused by shotgun shells or the accuracy of the rifle that snipes. Certain firearms have upgrades to improve their inherent qualities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
Most weapon upgrades require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests or killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.
Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a certain number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade the more advanced the level. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if have more than one of the upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Previously you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay a set number of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to a higher level of rarity. You could continue doing this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would be reset.
It's still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear with low upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a higher chance of granting you the highest tier advantages and benefits.
To level up faster, many players be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons favored by their squadmates to increase their power as well. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will enhance its effectiveness when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost the stats of a character or to provide additional effects in weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, where you combine gemstones with specific reagents on a table. The higher the level of the gemstone is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler, with stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts will vary depending on the tier the jewel is at when it is inserted into jewelry, weapons, or other gear.
All levels of jewels can be made at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a certain level to qualify for these. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped with another jewel of the same kind without destroying it. However you can only swap out one jewel in a piece of equipment only once.
The use of more jewels in the movement will make it more smooth and is typically used for aesthetic reasons. The jewels also improve performance and create an outer layer that is more durable than steel so that repeated friction from pivots do not cause damage to them.
In addition to the above upgrades additionally, players can obtain glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be traded, but they are not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be removed, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis are not swappable, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets can be used to give your character various small, but valuable, advantages. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and by completing road interactions. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinkets a player can unlock is the cloak, which grants a small but useful bonus to speed of movement and evasion. After that, they'll be able to acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in the same manner to the way a player acquires weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.
These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows a hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also make up for the lack of a good slot in the talent tree or team which would normally be filled by the hero's best stats.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrader-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade, since it's generally better to upgrade just one crucial stat than two subpar ones.
Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the start of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand will pick a pink or green ward, depending on the matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's ability to control his map.
Apart from the items listed above, players can find other items in the form of trophies and awards. These can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story. For example, completing the main quest for a chapter or beating a boss. You can view them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
