14 Misconceptions Commonly Held About Item Upgrading
World of Warcraft - item upgrader kit Upgrading
The item upgrader kit upgrade lets players boost the gear rating of an item up to 700 points and add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory before heading to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like perfect rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, don't change much post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus that increases their damage per second. Additionally there are many weapons with a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are present on a single unit. In some instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon is able to upgrade on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use the higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons will also reroll the stats of their base. While this is usually a good thing however, it could have negative consequences as well. Upgrades can make things inaccessible, unless you're exceptionally lucky.
Armor items can also be upgraded to boost their performance. This can increase the defense base of a helm or chest, while belts and gloves will increase their required strength and agility. Armor offers a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it is able to reduce its value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats that it will gain when upgrading, along with the relative values of those stats. This means that an upgrade from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. However the 3% difference doesn't mean that it will be hit for 3 fewer times as it is an absolute statistic.
A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button with arrows that circle in the menu for items. This will roll an item upgrading and change its statistics, but not reset the weapon's levels or bind it to account status.
Armor
A few upgrades to your armor can make the world of difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets provide massive boosts to poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which makes it easier to navigate through tough terrain. In general, the greater defense your character has the more value you will get from every point of health you possess therefore it is important to improve your armor as much as you can.
To upgrade your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four fountains in all each of which requires you to complete a specific side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've done the main side quest and completed the fountain that corresponds you'll be able to contact any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.
The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. You'll need anywhere from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. For example the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a decent-sized group of adversaries in most cold environments and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded all the way to +20 defense, providing the protection needed to survive a full on raid with a few friends.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll want to focus on upgrading it for physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power when you're Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss battle as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can gain some benefits to your armor. Generally speaking, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be useful to have a few improvements to the helmets and chest armor that allow you to stealth around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the player, provide the player with a temporary effect. There are five types of potions with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, increasing their effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.
Upgrades to potion require a certain amount of XP. This can be obtained through crafting them on a table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. However, the cost of upgrading changes depending on what type of potion you want to upgrade, and also on the item upgrader mod's Mark Level as well as its rarity.
To upgrade a potion simply right-click on it in your inventory. Then select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI that allows you to choose the potion that you wish to upgrade, and the amount of experience they will provide when upgraded. The upgrade of potions can be completed in batches of up to five at a time and the XP they provide will be added to your current XP count.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it is stored in. You can also rename the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
There were a few changes to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. For instance splash potions now have an average duration of 0:08 (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display of the item upgrader kit). The table of potion can now be made using four Wood Planks and two Glass. It is now able to be utilized in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, unlike Java Edition. Additionally, using a potentio on a full cauldron drains the contents and refills the bottle.
There are also simmering potions made using splash and dragon breath potions. Similar to lingering potions, the effect can be extended by adding redstone to it. The potion table is now laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as potion of leaping, potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is a small and affordable ornament or piece of jewelry. It may also refer to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a purpose but isn't particularly significant like a tiny thimble. In some cultures a trinket is a way to express affection or friendship between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets unlike other items which can be upgraded can be traded at will without losing stats.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of every zone and in some cases in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new trinket. It can be done by the player for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base ilvl of the older one, and include an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
When the old Trinkets are not usable, they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value with time. They can also be traded between players which makes them an extremely popular alternative to gold.
In general, players should upgrade their top-priority items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, then their secondary items and finally, other items of gear they won't replace in the near future (for example an earring or cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when deciding the items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players and they want to upgrade their helm, chest and shoulders.
Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level once they're no longer needed, and the new trinket will receive an additional upgrade bonus of 1. Re-upgrading will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still cheaper than buying the new one.
