A Brief History History Of Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The item Level upgrade Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for the latter because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item upgrades is upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was altered a bit, with numerous new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will be less expensive, even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available once certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade item path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item upgrade, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. It's best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
