The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

Valorstones

Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
