Now That You ve Purchased Item Upgrade ... Now What
WoW Upgrades - The item Level Upgrade Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher Best item upgrader level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of button, which displays a preview of the item at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade item cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is true even if the items come from another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
