WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the Item Level Upgrade by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for the latter due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade item their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade items to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less even if they are part of a different gear set.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the Best item upgrade gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, that will be able to avail the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality gear.
