WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade items increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for the latter due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item level upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that are used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain the latest recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via several methods, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and several new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies even if the items are from an entirely different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item upgrade level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade items paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
