Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats increase in value. The value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive depending on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the number of perks that must be altered to upgrade an item.

It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use as PvP is restricted at a lower level. Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.

The level of an item will allow players to compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it's capable of causing. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller is possible using the level of the item.

The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete item description, including its value. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories about how the item level calculation is made. One theory suggests that the item level is calculated using an equation that determines how valuable an Best item upgrader's stats really are. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzard's actual item level.

This isn't the only thing that affects the value of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For example, it could increase the item's haste or crit score. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant part of what makes or breaks an item for players. Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all sizes and shapes. The affixes could be used to give the item additional damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.

All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.

Players can upgrade an item with specific stats, or reroll attaches. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the specified range, unless it's an item that is unique or a God roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to increase. Similar to base equipment, it must be done per item and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the probability of obtaining items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is especially useful for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can be made or spawn using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover there are certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or created with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their success rate or prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.

The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an can be affected by the Luck of that item. Every item has a success rate of 25 percent, and each item upgrading that has Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
