What Will Item Upgrade Be Like In 100 Years
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.
Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other items. They are purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item upgrader mod and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through a variety of means which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade item to a particular level of an Item Level upgrade for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less, even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
