Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its stats increase in value. This value is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is due to how many perks must be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

The level of an item is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips for items. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use as PvP is restricted at lower levels. Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.

The level of an item can help players evaluate the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a useful indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it is capable of dealing with. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done using the item level.

The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the level is a number that comes from a formula that determines how much an item's stats are worth. It considers that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets increase the item's value. This can lead to an item's ilvl which is calculated and is usually very close to Blizzard's real item level.

However, this is not the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, as the level of the region the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, for instance by adding a level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the Best item upgrader." The stats of a base weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat mods which are then boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare tiers will be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Another way to change the stats of an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The affixes could be used to give the Best item upgrader extra damage, add a special ability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down the cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving an exclusive name to the item.

All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade menu pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, as with other methods of rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item to a specific stat or reroll affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat within that range unless they are a unique item, or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the chance of finding items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players a chance to upgrade their gear in earlier waves and is therefore more beneficial in the initial game run than later ones as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each level and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item upgrader mod's material type) to give +40 Luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are costly and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..

The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. Each item has an overall success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This can block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader (mouse click the following article) CORE client config.
