Now That You ve Purchased Item Upgrade ... Now What
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also increased with each upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for the latter because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that are used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to Best item upgrade owners for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the Item Level Upgrade and the current Best item upgrader level. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.
Upgraders for items can be found at many locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require various methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items are from a different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available after certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item upgrades level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type or equipment being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them properly. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrader gear you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
