The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Be sure to check your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large debris and wash them if needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot cleaner vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on how dirty they are.

If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuums best vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic vacuum cleaner spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
