In the field of linguistics, DCT is one of the most effective tools to study the behavior of communication learners. It can be used to study a variety of issues, including politeness, turn-taking, and lexical choice. It can also be used to assess the phonological difficulty of learners' speech.
Recent research has used the DCT as an instrument to test the ability to resist of EFL students. The RIs were recorded and transcribed, and then coded by two coders who were independent. The coding process was iterative and involved the coders reading and discussing each transcript. The coding results are then evaluated against the original RI transcripts to determine how well they accurately portrayed the underlying behavior.
Refusal Interviews (RIs)
