World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrading of your items is an essential aspect of equipping your character. Upgrades increase the base damage and enhancements of items.

They also provide bonus effects and enhancements. The Blacksmith can also sell them to you.

The upgrade button is available on any item. Each recycled Best item upgrader adds one level to the gauge for upgrading.

Weapon

When a weapon gets upgraded, it receives a base damage bonus and an increase in the scaling factor that affects other stats. The weapon can also gain a variety of upgrade components, which provide additional attributes or effects, and some have unique cosmetic effects. These upgrades can be inserted into armor, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. Most require that the equipment has an upgrade slot available and meet certain specifications. If a weapon piece has an upgrade component in it, the Best item upgrader can be replaced with another but the previous upgrade will be destroyed (except for legendary equipment and upgrades). Upgrade components can be retrieved by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit Ascended Salvage tool, or a high-tier salvaging tool on an item.

A weapon can also be upgraded to include a Calibration attribute that increases certain stats, like Weakspot damage or Crit Rate. This is accomplished through the Gear Workbench's interaction menu. This can be repeated four times depending on the weapon's level.

When the weapon is at max upgrade, it can be rebuilt using a variety of different upgrade types to improve specific stats or to add bonuses and effects. Many of these upgrades can be re-applied at once, and the effects are based on the rarity of the weapon.

Two Blacksmiths are able to perform these upgrades in the game: Blacksmith Iji on the Road to the Manor Site of Grace and Smithing Master Hewg at the Church of Elleh hub. Both require different upgrade materials: Smithing Stones for standard weapons, and Somber Smithing Stones to alter the type of damage a weapon deals.

In general, it's advisable to improve your weapon's damage first. Then you can increase your armour defense and finally those secondary stats required by your build. It is not uncommon to see melee Druids upgrade their weapon before upgrading other gear. This can help increase DPS. This is particularly relevant to enchantments that can be extremely efficient in increasing the damage of a weapon and other stats.

The potions also have the ability to select a custom color that can be set by the player using the /give. The color affects the effect clouds' area-of-effect as well as the arrows generated. In Bedrock Edition, the custom color code of the potion is also applied to the effects of the particles in the potions.
