World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items can be used to increase the stats of a particular item. Depending on the upgrade type it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly depending on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the variety of perks that must be altered to upgrade an item.

Item level is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips for items. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at a lower level. Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the level of an Best item upgrade. It's an indicator of the damage and quality. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

On PC, you can see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is carried out. One theory suggests that the level of an item is determined by formulas that determine how valuable the stats of an item really are. It is based on the fact that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item level upgrade's ilvl, which is usually close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.

However, this is not the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the region the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for example by adding a level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's skill.

Upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. An item that is white or grey for instance, will only be upgraded once and items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could be used to give the item additional damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding an exclusive name to the item.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other rerolling options.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the range, unless it's a unique item or a God roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item level, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops and the strength of the properties. It does not, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is more beneficial in the early game, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields, and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any ability that is able to deal damage by 5%. These items are available from the shop or made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The Luck of an item can also influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Every item has an average success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects could be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
