Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will be able to gain 3% of its previous damage for every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment that require fewer Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of an Item Upgrader Kit will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of the extent to which it will improve following a subsequent reset.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly, and there is a high possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break if it fails. A failed upgrade will ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that increase or even eliminate the possibility of failure, and some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes in the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 as soon as possible.

In the final game you'll find that the Best item upgrader way to improve your gear is to place Glyphs. These are the only upgrade component which can be upgraded to level 15 and give a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a specific set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids, for example should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also want to consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is also known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level the item, and when enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When an item is upgraded by a player, the base item is replaced with a different item of the same kind. The same armor can be transformed into a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This could be a disadvantage, as the item can be more expensive even if you don't require it.

Upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough tokens to do this. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This is a good idea, but should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). This can be upgraded several times, each time raising the maximum roll by 10 points. This item is highly valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of its unupgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The upgrade of items allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate items and currency to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense and weapon upgrades items boost their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear that can have eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade an object it is at risk of failing. The rate of failure increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to return to its original condition which means that the player has to pay for more materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item is not able to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item level upgrade also loses any bonuses it gained like crit chance attack damage, additional effects (such as increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). The player is able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon receives a crit chance boost, the increase will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its value. For instance an item of common use could have five upgrades for a price of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.

Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players will need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each equipment upgrade requires the use of different ingredients for upgrading.
