World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.
If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will increase an additional 3% of the previous attack damage each time it is upgraded.
The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the item's current level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades also have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue before the component can be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade may include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for instancethe "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of that equipment that require less Upgrade Crystals than is required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of the weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals per.
The player can have up to five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear even when they're not sure how much it can be improved upon a reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be costly and there is a high chance that the item could become obsolete or even break if it fails; a failed upgrade will cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Certain upgrades also provide the player a bonus if they are reinserted.
Glyphs

Glyphs boost the effectiveness of all nodes in a radius around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the various Glyphs as well as also a few rare glyphs to be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus which will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
Utilizing Glyphs Glyph can boost all nodes that are linked to it, so you should try to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for example should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.
Leveling

Certain upgrades can boost their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the max roll by 10 points. This item is extremely useful in PvP battles, since an item that is properly rolled it could be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.
