WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item upgrading used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using a button, which will show a preview of the item at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item upgrading has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same Best item upgrader level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items come from an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an Item Level Upgrade - Pattern-Wiki.Win, upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they only have one use. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
