WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item upgrader mod has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for the latter because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade items gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgrade upgraders in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which will show an image of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item upgrading and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via a variety of means which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with some new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true even if those items are from an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available when certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific Item Level Upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. It is Best item upgrader to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
