What Are the Different Types of Codes and How Do They Work?
Modern car keys contain unique chips that are unique to each vehicle, unlike older keys. This helps prevent thieves from simply using the key to start the car.
These keys can be purchased at a dealership or cloned in the locksmith's shop. The procedure for programming the key is different for each manufacturer and involves turning the key to the on position without starting the engine, and then taking it off it within a predetermined time frame.
Transponder Codes
Like its name suggests, transponders transmit an encoded signal containing the four-digit code when it is being questioned by air traffic control. This signal, known as a SQUAWK Code, is used to identify aircraft on radar screens. It is also used to send an exact message to air traffic control in the event of an emergency or to alert air traffic controllers to changing weather conditions. Squawk codes can be used to communicate with ATC when the pilot is unable to communicate via radio. They are vital to ensure safe flying.
Every aircraft is equipped with a transponder that responds to radar queries by identifying a code. This enables ATC to identify the aircraft on a radar screen that is busy. Transponders come in a variety of modes that vary how they respond to questions. Mode A is the only mode that transmits the code, while mode C also includes altitude information. Mode S transponders provide more specific information, such as call signs and positions, which can be useful in crowded airspace.
A common sight is a small, beige box beneath a pilot's seat in all aircraft. This is the transponder. it is set up to transmit an SQUAWK code whenever the airplane is activated by air traffic control. The transponder can be set to the 'ON ALT or SBY (standby position) positions.

There are 63 discrete code blocks that can be assigned to an aircraft. The block configuration of the discrete code is built on statistical analysis in order to minimize the chance of two aircrafts with the same SQUAWK code being in the same area.
A transponder key has an exclusive chip inside that holds the ID code. If a car's security light comes on, this means that the ID code inside the key doesn't match the one in the car's computer. If this happens, the car's immobilizer will be disabled and it will not start until a new key programmers is used. PIN codes
A PIN code is a series of numbers (usually 4 or 6 digits) that are used to gain access to the device, service, or system. VIN Numbers
VIN numbers are used to identify vehicles and provide an abundance of information about them. VIN numbers are unique to every vehicle on earth and are not applicable to alien vehicles (or whatever). The 17 numbers of the VIN code are a combination letters and numbers which can be decoded in order to reveal vital information about your vehicle or truck.

In North America, 10th through 17th numbers of the VIN are known as the Vehicle Identification Section (VIS). The tenth and 11th digits indicate the year of the vehicle's manufacture. The eleventh digit indicates the assembly plant that manufactured the vehicle. In addition the tenth through seventeenth digits may contain additional information, like features or options that are installed in the vehicle.
The VIN code is a serial code with six digits, which uniquely identify an automobile or truck. The last digit is also the check digit and the other numbers are transliterated to numbers. The first digit is assigned an 8 and each subsequent digit grows in value by one until the seventh digit reaches nine, which is then two. Then the entire VIN will be reverted back to its original form, by multiplying each weight by 11. If the result is equivalent to the check digit, then the VIN is valid.
Data Transfer
