WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade items.

The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item upgrader kit level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item upgrader mod, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new gear. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar Best item upgrade from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will display an item level Upgrade's preview when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require several methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with numerous new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less, even when they are part of a different gear set.

The discount is available to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
