Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item upgrade, a player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while items with strong bases such as eth titans do not vary significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be slotted into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or received from chests or missions. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain point before they are upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the user must select it and then click the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the necessary component or material needed for the upgrade to take place.

There are three kinds: universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are similar to gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be used in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix at the end of item names. For instance the addition of a Glyph will transform a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades to gather tools when a player swaps one glyph with another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of inscriptions which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from the previous versions in a few important ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level up however, the materials needed aren't as high. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few key items and maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several pieces.

Once an item has been completed in this way, it is eligible for a new set of upgrade components, and a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy, and it resets to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to gain affixes which will increase its features. The number of affixes available will depend on the type of item it is. For example, a rare or unique weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes for it, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item is not able to attain its maximum level The NPC will offer players the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower rate of success.

Engineers use a level in order to measure the height of the building against an established location, such as an existing benchmark. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with a high level of accuracy and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can dramatically improve an item's strength or damage, as well as other characteristics. You can do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling is costly and should only be done in the rarest of circumstances.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled is contingent on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for all stats. This can be a good or a bad thing, dependent on your needs and requirements from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may also have a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are offered over the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the higher chances of obtaining a unique bonus.

The game also comes with several sets, that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on the same unit. This is a good way to give an individual character more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can provide a much faster route to a more powerful character, allowing them to reach high tiers and progress the game much more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be arranged differently. They can have different dimensions, contain no elements at all or contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or sorting information. They can also be useful in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways in terms of size and shape.

There are a variety of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, while some are not. Armor sets that provide the highest defense value or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. However, most upgrades to weapons do not improve the item upgrader kit's stats much in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have lots of weapons or armor pieces already.

Certain set items are upgraded for their own special functions which can be useful in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).

Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items up to par with the levels. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on the screen of their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and jewelry offer more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs for spells or weapons upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will give a substantial increase in their performance. This will also increase the defense of armor that has a newer appearance.
