WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrading upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means that are both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less even in the event that they are part of a different gear set.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item upgrading level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrader gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
