Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, commonly called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases a stat linearly.

Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item upgrades scales with its rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats on your weapon and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. Additionally to this, many items can be reforged to increase their stats.

You can purchase upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available throughout the world as well as rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. Upgrade components are the main method of upgrading equipment. These are the items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has slots that can be upgraded and some require a certain amount of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.

There are many types of upgrade elements in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments can be put in any kind of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs can be placed in gathering tools and provide numerous bonuses, from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing additional crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, simply select it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. This will display an overview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected stats will be after the upgrade, as well as any required components or materials. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show Blocked if you don't have enough of or.

The number of upgrade components needed for a particular item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of upgrading increases with the level and rarity of the item increase. However, you can reduce the cost by purchasing upgrades from a seller, or trading them with other players.

Nearly all weapons can be upgraded using the use of a prefix upgrade for example, an insignia or rune, and a lot of them can be upgraded with suffix upgrades. These upgrades alter the name of the item upgrader, adding an adjective, such as "Radiant" or "Minor vigor. The only exceptions are the non-inscribable weapons, such as foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any mods in any way.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to convey visual information. They move to grab the viewer's eye and spark curiosity. The glyphs' animation mimics body language, which makes them more effective at conveying the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also enhance the likelihood of remembering a message by evoking an experience of familiarity in the brain.

Each glyph has a range of values it can enhance a stat according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This is the maximum value that a glyph could enhance a stat by, not the amount that it will actually increase the stat by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the item level upgrade you are enchanting it to.

The majority of upgrade items components inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a glyph or rune you do not want to use, but it's not been applied to the gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

You can remove a glyph by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item will be destroyed in which it is installed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards therefore, it shouldn't be considered a loss.

The addition of a glyph to an item could cause it to become unstable and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you remove the item. You can also add an inscription on your equipment to make it more valuable. Deferred Damage, for example, can store damage and then be dealt slowly to the wearer rather than all at one time. This is beneficial for players who take many hits from their enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes that are placed on equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from many sources, including mysterious boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll token gives the player a brand new random affix that is usually superior to the original. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.

Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the upgrade menu, however, they still qualify to receive upgrades. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade items" button that alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined based on the item's rarity and its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable to recycle than items with lower levels.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls roll a percentage chance for a weapon's trait. If it is higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower the weapon remains as is. Weapons can be repeatedly rolled up to three times.

Rerolls are a good option for upgrading an item, but players should be aware that it could reduce the total ilvl of the weapon by the number of rerolls required to increase it to the final level. This reduction effect is most effective on Diadems and ring items, which have no competing ilvl-raising options.

The system of rerolls has been criticised by players as being too expensive and it's more equitable to let players pay for it using money or food items that allows them to change their builds without wasting time and effort. The developers aren't planning to introduce paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. They plan to add a potion that will allow players to alter their race in the future.

Leveling

There are many ways to upgrade an item. The most effective method to level up an upgrade to an item is to increase the amount of upgrade. This increases the upgrade value for a stat. The second option is to boost the effect of the upgrade, which can increase damage or healing for an individual stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. Once this is done, the new item will keep its iLevel, but will be upgraded with the effects of the upgraded item type.

It is important to remember that upgrades can be random. Most of the time, a higher roll is determined by glyphs. However there are occasions when a greater or special roll can occur. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or unique item to a unique item type, it's likely to getting an upper level.

Upgrades can be costly, especially if you are upgrading gear from the standard track to the legendary. The price will be based on the item's base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels it comes with. Some upgrade tracks also require crests to reach the next level.

If you're lucky the upgraded item will reach the maximum level on its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional benefit. This will result in a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect is different with each upgrade level. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.

Based on the item's base level and upgrade process, the iLevel for the upgraded item will change as well. For example, a weapon that is upgraded from a unique or rare to an exceptional item will be able to gain the Enhanced Defense of the base type of item.
