Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a frequent and crucial method to enhance the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of damage or more AD or even more attachments.

Often times however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade equipment due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be applied to armor and weapon items. They improve the stats of whatever item they are attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items that have upgrade components inside them, using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to absorb. A piece of armor upgraded to its highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. However, it's important be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, causing it to be heavier than before.

There are several different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each has a different effect. For instance, certain upgrades give the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get will be identified by the name of the upgrade item as shown in the table below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require charges to use, which is indicated by a "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are continuously updated or never expire depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest option to upgrade your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive but it can be obtained from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant boost to stats and are worth the investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.

Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense values, but the player should be aware that increasing its weight can drastically decrease its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The added defense usually isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Some weapons also have special upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes weapon overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity to cause more damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. They can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.

To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain amount of bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade items, the more advanced the level. The cost of upgrading will be less if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets has changed a bit. Before you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay a set amount of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased quality. You could continue doing this until you reached a max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would be reset.

It's possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. Instead, you're better off going to the stores and buying gear that has low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a greater chance of granting you the highest tier blessings and perks.

To increase their level faster, most players will be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. Additionally, players should consider upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their squadmates to make them more powerful and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to make it more useful when paired with biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to boost a stat or provide secondary effects in weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method of making them, where you combine gemstones with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the level of the gemstone is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or through collecting Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The quality of a diamond can be improved upon by the Jeweler in stages that range from Crude to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the tier the jewel is in when it is inserted into weapons, jewelry, or equipment.

All levels of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a sufficient level to qualify for these. Jewels can be replaced by another one without damaging the original. However, you can only replace the jewels in an equipment piece once.

The use of more jewels in the movement will make it feel smoother, and is often done for aesthetic reasons. The jewels also improve performance and make a surface harder than steel, so that the repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to them.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the look of your shields and weapons. These are a small perk and can be swapped freely but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also a Scattered Crystal. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis cannot be swapped, and can only be found with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that offer many tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and through performing road interactions. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinkets that a player can unlock is the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and evasion. The player will then be able to acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar fashion as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also provide additional buffs and skills that remain active whenever the hero is not fighting. This allows a hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It can also make up for the absence of excellent slot in the talent tree or team which would normally be filled by the hero's optimal stats.

In general trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. Next, any items with desirable stats that are less significant than the iLevel for the item upgrader kit upgrader mod - continue reading this.., to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item upgrader kit has multiple stats that you wish to upgrade items, as it's often more beneficial to upgrade one important stat than two sub-optimal ones.

At the beginning of the game, players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their trinket into a red one, while top and middle players usually choose either a pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

Apart from the items listed above, players can also find other items in the form of awards and trophies. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story, for instance finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
