Indisputable Proof Of The Need For Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item level upgrade used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items can be found at many locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will be less expensive, even when they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade items pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. For instance, it's Best item upgrader to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
