Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting its stats base or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies, or obtained as rewards from missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player must select it, and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be and also the component or material needed for the upgrade to take place.

There are three kinds of universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a type restriction. Infusions are gems that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix to the end of the names of items. For instance adding a Glyph could transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If an individual upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs by a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, except for the inscriptions that can be swapped freely.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from the previous versions. Gear is now classified into tracks and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the effect of these items, instead of dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

When an item is leveled out in this way, it is capable of receiving a new set of upgrade components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it resets to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.

After a piece has been upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available is contingent on the type of item it is. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon with a standard base will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the Best item upgrade is at its current level and what slot it is placed in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with a different set or upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of material however it will result in less chance of success.

To measure the height of a building, engineers will employ an instrument to compare the measurement against an established reference point like a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and the level and then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that the buildings are constructed with a high degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can dramatically enhance an item's strength or damage, as well as other characteristics. It is possible to do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling is costly and should only be done in rare cases.

The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which can be used to earn Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the amount of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes that made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you could get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each statistic. This can be good or bad, based on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may come with a bonus that increases the power of the item by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the regular affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the better your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.

The game also includes number set that grants an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an item. This is a great way to give the character more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can give players a faster path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve high tiers and progress the game faster.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can have different sizes, contain no elements at all, or contain a single element. They are useful for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be classified in several ways, including by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers a wide range of set items that can be upgraded. Certain items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets with high defense values and set bonuses. However, most upgrades to weapons don't improve the stats of the item when as compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you already have lots of weapons or armor pieces already.

Certain set items are upgraded for their unique procs, which can be particularly useful in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level as their counterparts in their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, from 29 to 75. Upgrading lower-level set items can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item upgrade as well as the items required to upgrade it. It will show the item upgrade's characteristics, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will bring about a significant improvement in their performance. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade as its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
