The 10 Most Terrifying Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Typically items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found as loot gathered by enemies or gotten from chests and missions. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they can be upgraded.
To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be put in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from earlier versions. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several pieces.
Once an item has been finished being leveled and is leveled out, it will be eligible for a new set of upgrade components, as well as a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it is reset to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.
Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to gain affixes which will boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available depends on the type of item it is. For example, an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item level upgrade is at its current level and in what slot it is in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC grants players the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of materials, though it will have lower chances of success.
Engineers may use a level in order to compare the height of the building against a known location, such as an existing benchmark. This process is called a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high standard of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential part of the game that can increase the damage, strength or other attributes. It is possible to do this through the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be handled with care.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item upgrader mod or an item of the same type. Recyclable items come with a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.
In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you would get the stats that mattered most to your build often than others. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each stat. This can be either good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can come with a bonus that increases the item upgrade's power by a set percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the better your chances of receiving the bonus of a different kind.
The game also comes with number set that grants the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an unit. This is a good way to give an individual character more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players opt to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the early stages of the game. Rerolling is a way to create a more powerful character faster, allowing you to advance in the game and achieve higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can have different dimensions, contain no elements at all or have a single element. They are useful for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.
There are many set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets with high defense and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically don't improve the stats of the item when compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you already have a lot of weapons or armor pieces already.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique procs that are useful for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level as their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items can enhance their defense, and make them more competitive when it comes to damage.
To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on their character screen. The item upgrader kit's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the requirements for upgrading specific items.
Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their performance. This will also increase the defense value of armor that has an updated appearance.
