Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes that boost its stats base or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item upgrades, the player needs to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Typically, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute benefit, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies or as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player must select it, and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the required element or material required for the upgrade to take place.

There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be put in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are similar to gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding a Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from earlier versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the impact of those items, instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.

This will allow the item to receive upgraded components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will increase its features. The number of affixes available will depend on the type of item it is. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes for it, whereas legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade will require a certain number of Flightstones and crests to complete based on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item fails to reach its max level The NPC will offer the player the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and costs the same amount of material but will have a lower chance of success.

Engineers use a level in order to measure the height of the building against an established point, such as a benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and level before turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is an essential aspect of the game and can increase an item's damage, strength or other attributes. This can be done through the item menu or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be done in very rare instances.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or an item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is contingent on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you would receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than other. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for all stats. This could be a positive or a negative thing dependent on your needs and expectations from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may come with a bonus that increases the power of the Best item upgrade by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the regular affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the greater the chance of receiving a unique bonus.

The game also comes with number set that grants the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on a unit. This is a great method to give a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players prefer to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. This is because rerolling could offer a quicker route to a more powerful character which allows them to achieve high tiers and progress the game faster.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be arranged in different ways. They can be of different sizes, have no elements, or contain one element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They are also useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an array of upgradeable set items. Some are worth upgrading, while some are not. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets with high defense value and set bonuses. However, most upgrades to weapons don't improve the item's stats much in comparison to their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you have a lot of weapons or armor pieces already.

Some set items are upgraded to meet their own unique functions which can be useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items up to par with the tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrading lower-level set items can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on the screen for their character. It will show the Best item upgrade's attributes, along with the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements of specific items.

In general, weapons and armor have higher value when fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this as its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
