15 Reasons You Shouldn t Ignore Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The item upgrader mod Upgrader
Upgrades give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade items also boosts an unspecified substat.
Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for the latter due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the item being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool with a button, which will display a preview of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.
Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade items recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level for an Item Level Upgrade in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less, even if they are part of another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the type or gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to use them wisely. For instance it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best gear you have available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
