The 10 Most Terrifying Things About Item Upgrading
World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.
For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will suffer an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or effect when they're used. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with less Upgrade crystals than they would require to reach the same level using standard methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will be revealed in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment even if they're not sure of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.
Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process could be costly, and there is a significant possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break when it fails; a failed upgrade will cause the destruction of the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate chance of failure, and a few upgrades that give the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes within a radius around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in various ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 as soon as you can.
You will often find in the endgame that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component which can be upgraded to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the various Glyphs as well as some rare glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Using Glyphs Glyph will boost all the nodes connected to it, so you should try to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. For example, a Druid should try to place their Glyphs near their primary damage points, but also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The item upgrading system allows players to improve the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components inside them. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level requires a different amount of components to reach and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets advanced in level.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and once enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player improves an item upgrade the original item will be replaced by a new item. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set of bonuses. This can be a disadvantage because it can cause the item level upgrade to become more expensive if you don't require it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This can be beneficial, but should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time increasing the maximum roll by 10 points. This item is very important in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth 50 times the value of a unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
item upgrading - perfectworld.wiki - allows players to increase the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency and items to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also improve the strength of their base defense and weapon upgrades items boost their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.
All items are upgradeable up to five times except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object, it is at risk of failing. The rate of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to revert back to its original state, requiring the player to spend more money on materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.
If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. Additionally the item will be deducted any gained bonuses, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as any other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or speed of reload). However, the player can continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it gains a crit chance increase it will be applied prior to any damage from attacks increases. Slots is a brand-new attribute that was added to Best item upgrade definitions. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The upgrade cost for non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item may have five upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items will have the lowest cost for each upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. However, players will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each equipment upgrade will require the use of different upgrade ingredients.
