Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and equipment with new affixes, increasing its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with strong bases, like the Titans of eth have little change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or extra effect when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, found in loot, thrown away by enemies, or obtained as rewards from missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players must select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats and the necessary component or materials.

There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be put on any type of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up however the materials required don't increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few items and maximize the effect of these items rather than spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.

If an item is finished being leveled in this way, it is able to receive an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade item will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it is able to get the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes that are available depends on the type of item it is. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a base that is standard will have only two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item does not attain its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option to transfer it to another person and then re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of material, though it will have a lower chance of success.

Engineers will employ a level to measure the height of the building to an established point, like the benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level and backsight rod before turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that structures are built to a high level of accuracy and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item upgrader mod. It is an essential part of the game that can increase an item's damage, strength or other characteristics. This can be done through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be used in the rarest of circumstances.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item upgrader or a similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.

Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes that made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than other items. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and diminished duration due to control or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for each stat. This could be good or bad, depending on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that increases the item's power by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the better the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

The game also comes with number sets that grant the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an unit. This is a good method of giving a character a lot more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. This is because rerolling can offer a quicker route to becoming a strong character, allowing them to reach high tiers and progress the game much more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in different ways. They can be different sizes, contain no elements, or only contain one element. They can be used to organize data or sorting information. They are also useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways in terms of size and shape.

There are a range of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, others are not. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that offer high defense values and set bonuses. However, most upgrades to weapons don't improve the quality of the item's stats when compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have many armor pieces or weapons.

Set items can be upgraded to include special tools that are suitable for certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Extraordinary Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level as their tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower level items can enhance their defense, and increase their competitiveness when it comes to damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the required items to upgrade it. This will display the item's characteristics, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

Generally speaking, weapons and jewelry offer better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature spell/weapon damage glyphs upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade as its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
